I am Head of the Atmospheric Measurement and Observation Facility, with particular responsibility for our rain and cloud radar capability at Chilbolton Observatory. I have a background in theoretical physics and applied mathematics, and an interest in the interaction of electromagnetic waves with random media. This has led to research on radar and radio-propagation applications of scattering theory, with a particular emphasis on the properties of inhomogeneous melting precipitation particles.
I am actiively enagaged in the Aerosol Clouds and Trace Gases Research Infrastructure (ACTRIS), and the COST Action PROBE (Profilng the Atmospheric Boundary Layer at European Scale), for which I chair a working group on instrument operations and data quality.
