I am NCAS Operations Director based in NCAS HQ in the University of Leeds.

As NCAS Operations Director I am responsible to the NCAS Director and Management Board for all NCAS resource management including Finance, Contracts, People, Risk, Communications, Environmental Sustainability, IT, Governance, Events & Workforce Development. I take a leading role in the continued development and implementation of NCAS Equality, Diversity and Inclusion policy. 

I am passionate about providing scientists the best possible support and facilitation to do their best work and to fulfil NCAS’ Mission and Vision.

I joined NCAS in October 2021 moving to Leeds with my family after 13 years working for the British Antarctic Survey. I held various roles with BAS culminating in the role of Head of Polar Operations overseeing stations, ships and aircraft in Antarctica. I have had the privilege of spending more than six years in Antarctica including two 18 month overwintering tours. 

In 2021 I was awarded the Polar Medal by the late Queen Elizebeth for services to the UK in Antarctica.
